Speaker 1:

Welcome back to the Healthy Church Staff podcast. As we settle into the rhythm of the new year, it's really important to remember that we're not in this alone. I'm Todd Rhodes from Chemistry Staffing. Today, we're talking about the importance of finding your ministry tribe those people who understand the unique joys and challenges of church leadership. Ministry can be lonely at times, can't it? We carry the weight of expectations and the burden of leadership responsibility for caring for our congregations, and, while we love what we do for the most part, it's really easy to feel isolated, to feel overwhelmed, even burned out, and that's why it's crucial to have a really good support system, a group of people who get it, who can offer encouragement and wisdom and a supporting and listening ear, people who can celebrate your successes and victories and empathize with your struggles and remind you that you're not alone in this journey. Where do you find your ministry tribe? Here are a few ideas, because so many people in ministry are just incredibly lonely.

Speaker 1:

First of all, connect with your colleagues. Reach out to other pastors and church staff in your area. It doesn't have to be inside your church Maybe other pastors, other people that you know that are outside of your church. Sometimes that can actually be a good thing, but maybe you need to be proactive. This new year, maybe you reach out and schedule a coffee date, maybe attend some conferences together or recommend something, or maybe even start a peer support group. But connect with colleagues, those people that you can actually get with physically and discuss how you're doing. Second of all, find a mentor. Seek out someone who maybe has far more experience in ministry than you have and that can offer some guidance and wisdom, somebody that's already been where you're at and can guide you through it. Their insights can be absolutely invaluable as you navigate the challenges of online of leadership. And so many people don't have a mentor and they're just flying blind into the future because they have no one to bounce ideas off of. They have no one to talk to that's already been where they are in leadership. So find a mentor, and if you need help finding a mentor, you can reach out to me. Podcast at chemistrystaffingcom. We'll see what we can do to find you a good mentor, even if it's an online mentor. And lastly, join some online communities. There are countless online groups and forums where you can connect with other church leaders from all around the world.

Speaker 1:

Now, this isn't the same as sitting across the table and sharing coffee with somebody. It's not the same as being in person, but, believe me and we have almost 50 people on our team at Chemistry Staff and we're all virtual. We're all over the country. I haven't even met in person with some of the people that are on our team, but we have yet. We still share a great camaraderie as we get to know each other and work with each other online. These virtual spaces don't underestimate them. They can provide a sense of community and support, especially when you're feeling isolated.

Speaker 1:

Okay, here's your challenge today Reach out to one person in ministry and schedule a time to connect. That's it One person. It could be a colleague, it could be a mentor, a potential member, maybe somebody you've met online that you've never met in person. But reach out and schedule some time Actually, put it on your calendar, share your experiences, ask for advice and offer some support in return. You'll thank me for it because it'll really make a difference.
